Matthew Boulton College, Birmingham

Matthew Boulton College, BirminghamInterserve carried out the design and installation of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Services for this prestigious inner city project.

The award winning college was relocated to be the centrepiece of Birmingham’s new vibrant learning quarter, Eastside Development. The brand new £37.9m campus comprises one building split over 8 levels involving many interesting and diverse features including music rooms, a dentistry school, shops, an operating theatre, a library and a landscaped roof including glass domes on level 3.

We established an excellent working relationship with the user tailoring the design to their exact requirements. With an experienced on site team Interserve responded quickly and effectively to immediate issues arising during the construction process such as designing for legacy equipment from existing premises.

To cope with a particularly demanding programme innovative ways of working were utilised including the use of prefabricated risers and a prefabricated plant room, as well as a pioneering plug and play pre-wired lighting system. These methods significantly reduced the construction programme.

The services works were completed on time and within budget continuing the successful working relationship with the main contractor HBG.

“An excellent service and product, I would be happy to work with Interserve again”, Andy Betty (HBG).
