Hadley Learning Community

Dr Gill Eatough, Principal, commented on the first day of operation of the secondary school: “You create a mental image of something and all the way through this you’ve been thinking, ‘What will it feel like when the children are here and they’re sitting working and eating in this place we’ve designed?’… and it’s happening, and they love it, apparently, they really love it.

“What’s amazing is that there’s been virtually no glitch in the building. You’d think that, with all these children in, there’d be something major that might not work, but the building’s worked perfectly and beautifully and the children have been fantastic.”

Dr Graham L Thomas, Director of Biomedical Research Resources, University of Edinburgh, said: “This was a highly complex project which covered multiple types of end-design… subject to the most intensive scrutiny by legislative bodies e.g. Health and Safety Executive and the Home Office… Interserve’s ‘can do’ attitude was I believe, the major contributing factor leading to the success of the project.”

The Considerate Constructors Monitors Report read: “A great pleasure to look around this site which is obviously managed by a dedicated and enthusiastic team. Good emphasis on planning and it shows! Very well done, keep it up.”

These impressive new facilities will enable Cockburn to continue to improve results, develop the skills of the next generation and fulfil its central role within the local community. Our pupils are very impressed with the modern school buildings they are now learning in and are already benefiting from using from them."

Christ Church & St Peter's Primary School, Loughborough

Sandy Gourlay, Head Teacher commented, “Throughout the project I have been impressed with the way in which Interserve communicated with the school. As a result the business of the school was left to run unaffected. This was a project run in a thoroughly professional manner, both in terms of the overall strategy and the day to day operations. Well done and thank you… I might also mention the excellent health and safety presentation, which was given prior to the start of the project. I am happy to say there were no accidents on site during the building work.”

Dorothy Goodman Special Needs School, Hinckley

The success of the project was summed up at a recent open day, “This is a wonderful new school, I’m sure all the children will benefit greatly.”
