Case Studies
Efficient design and plant
Interserve was party to setting the blueprint for Building Schools for the Future in this project. Sustainability was a key consideration throughout all stages of the project and formed an integral part of the design.
Innovative cleaning solutions
Interserve wanted to identify and utilise cost-effective products that performed as well as traditional chemical cleaning systems realising sustainability benefits.
Building management system replacement
The old Building Management System at Interserve’s office, Intersection House at West Bromwich, was expensive to run and maintain, costing £60k a year.
Minimising use of raw materials
The market is looking for ways to provide safer, faster and less wasteful methods of construction. RMD Kwikform is Interserve’s specialist formwork and falsework business and it is here that this development work has taken place.
Sustainable materials in construction
To facilitate design which addresses the issue of long-term running costs and offers simple solutions that reduces the energy consumption of these buildings.
Natural ventilation
In line with current Government-set NHS Energy targets, natural ventilation solutions were a necessity when Interserve was considering the building design for this Treatment Centre.
Considerate construction
Major repair of the public Victoria Footbridge over the River Wye in Hereford, linking the city park to the city centre, was required.
Management of demolition and waste
As part of this PFI contract to provide single living accommodation at HMS Drake, Plymouth, Interserve was employed to demolish the old and construct new buildings and to provide facilities management services for the accommodation.
Minimising nuisance
When Interserve won the contract for a major shopping centre refurbishment programme to give the centre a new and exiting look, the retailers affected were concerned about potential fall in sales.
Alternative heating systems
Interserve is committed to providing sustainable building services so when heating systems at a site on the Defence Training Estate were coming to an end, a study to identify the best practical sustainable option was undertaken.
