End of life

Interserve advises on options available as assets reach the end of their life and in many cases it may be possible to carry out refurbishment with a view to a change of use or to provide a new lease of life

We have a wide range of experience of refurbishment:

In any refurbishment, options for adaptation of a building will be considered. This may be for a change of use as circumstances have changed or it may be to improve its resistance to the potential effects of climate change – increasingly extreme weather, flooding etc.

An asset that is no longer required becomes waste and Interserve will help to ensure that rather than just being sent to landfill, waste is actively managed to determine whether it should be:

  • Reused – furniture or IT equipment donated to charity etc.
  • Recycled – demolition waste, paper, scrap metal etc.
  • Composted – organic food waste etc.
  • Used for energy recovery – mixed plastics, packaging etc.
  • Sent to landfill – asbestos, hazardous waste etc.
